Augustus

Galanthus Augustus is a robust and vigorous selection of Galanthus plicatus. It was named and distributed by the famous plantswoman Amy Doncaster. she named it in honour of the famous E A Bowles; Augustus having been his middle name.
Commercial stocks of this plant are often reported as being infected with a virus which causes yellow streaks on the leaves. Augustus seems unperturbed by the virus it carries, but people worry that the virus will be transmitted to other plants in their collection.

Our plants of Augustus have never exhibited viral symptoms and came many years ago from Noel Pritchard; he having received them from Primrose Warburg.
With us Augustus never has a second flower, unlike many plicatus types. It is very easily recognised with its broad, bright prostrate leaves and its puckered chubby flowers.
